Today marks the release of David Bockino’s latest book, Over/Under, a history of sports betting which also proposes the theory that gambling has long served as an essential catalyst for America’s multibillion-dollar sports industry. Over/Under was named one of the most anticipated nonfiction books of 2026 by The New York Times, which noted that “since 2018, sports betting in the U.S. has gone from a maligned hobby to a booming business.
